Solutions71 is seeking an Health Informatics Data Analyst with experience in database development or clinical data management in a healthcare research environment for a customer located at The National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) within the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD . The NICoE is a DoD institute dedicated to providing cutting-edge evaluation, treatment, and research for service members dealing with complex interactions of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and psychological health (PH) conditions and maintains a large-scale informatics database with longitudinal data for hundreds of thousands of diagnosed mTBI patients.  The Health Informatics Data Analyst will work collaboratively with research teams at NICoE to develop and pose meaningful scientific questions of existing datasets that are nested in Informatics, and in large scale IRB-approved longitudinal research studies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or similar area.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in database development and statistical analysis in a healthcare or research environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong written and verbal skills for presenting detailed results of statistical analysis to colleagues of various backgrounds (clinical, research, and administrative).
  • Experience with neuroimaging software packages such as AFNI, FSL, DTI-TK, TORTOISE, DSI studio, or similar etc., as used to identify relevant features that characterize injuries due to mTBI
  • Strong background in database management, statistical analysis techniques, and data mining
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL), design of user interface for data collection, and database architecture.
  • Proficiency in Python programming language required.
  • Able to conduct analyses with and convert data between various statistical software packages such as R, SPSS, or similar, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software- Access, Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint
  • Must be able to pass a rigorous federal background check
  • Experience within the DoD and Government agencies preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to liaise with Clinical Research and Informatics departments and make recommendations for the optimal queries and analysis to support specific research goals.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks and reprioritize based on changing demands to meet study timelines.
  • Collaborate with clinical colleagues in hypothesis-driven research.
  • Assist in the creation of surveys/questionnaires; extract and prepare data and conduct analysis.
  • Assist in the development of statistical design and power analyses for research projects and grant proposals including optimizing protocols, monitoring quality control, and participating in the grant and research report authorship.
  • Summarize results of statistical analysis and convey meaning to staff of different levels of seniority and various backgrounds (clinicians, administrative staff, and researchers)
  • Provide guidance to research and clinical staff on statistical and analytics analyses and approaches
  • Write and contribute and conduct literature reviews for publications in the form of manuscripts, articles, reports, and presentations.
